DESCRIPTION:Event Details\nAn Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) accredited course\, this two-day program aims to teach the theory and practical skills to effectively manage cardio/respiratory arrest\, peri-arrest situations and special circumstances\, and to prepare senior members of a multidisciplinary team to treat the patient until transfer to a critical care area is possible. The course focuses on achieving advanced resuscitation competencies and is also designed to develop leadership and team skills in managing such emergencies. \nCourse candidates will be sent the ARC Advanced Life Support 2 manual four weeks prior to the course. It is a requirement that the pre-course multiple choice question paper is completed prior to attending. The course must be attended in its entirety with the successful completion of all assessments required to attain ALS Provider status. DESCRIPTION:Event Details\n \nEXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST\nThe Rural Health West CPD REACT+ workshop is designed to assist Western Australian Visiting Medical Practitioners to maintain their emergency knowledge and skills\, and gain formal assessment towards their emergency credentialing\, as required by WA Country Health Service. Covering medical emergencies\, major trauma and cardiac arrest in adults and children\, and associated lifesaving procedural skills training. REACT+ is a highly interactive workshop. DESCRIPTION:Event Details\nAn Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) accredited course\, this two-day program aims to teach the theory and practical skills to effectively manage cardio/respiratory arrest\, peri-arrest situations and special circumstances\, and to prepare senior members of a multidisciplinary team to treat the patient until transfer to a critical care area is possible. The course focuses on achieving advanced resuscitation competencies and is also designed to develop leadership and team skills in managing such emergencies. \nCourse candidates will be sent the ARC Advanced Life Support 2 manual four weeks prior to the course. It is a requirement that the pre-course multiple choice question paper is completed prior to attending. The course must be attended in its entirety with the successful completion of all assessments required to attain ALS Provider status. Candidates who successfully complete the program receive an ARC ALS2 Provider certificate\, valid for 4 years. SUMMARY:CTEC - The Cutting Edge: Advanced Hand Surgery for GPs
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is run in partnership with the Clinical Training and Evaluation Centre (CTEC)                             \n  \n\nThe Cutting Edge: Advanced Hand Surgery for GPs workshop is a unique\, highly practical cadaveric dissection skills training workshop. It is designed to provide GPs with a higher than average level of skill in surgery with the opportunity to refine and consolidate their surgical techniques. It is of particular relevance to rural GP Proceduralists in the management of difficult and emergency hand injuries. This workshop aims to equip GPs with a reliable foundation in advanced procedural skills. It is an excellent advanced level course with a high faculty to participant ratio. It does not provide certification of competence in any of the procedures outlined and practised. Limited Observer positions are available. \nProcedures are first covered by a brief didactic presentation followed by a hands-on cadaveric session with only 2 participants per station. Each participant  has access to a dedicated cadaveric arm and hand. \nPresentation & Practical Cadaveric Sessions: \n\nCarpal tunnel release and injection\nAmputated finger/ part finger repair/ terminalisation/ management\nNailbed repair and biopsy\nDifficult excisions on hand/finger\nTrigger finger release\nTendon repair\n\nSuitable for: GPs with a higher than average level of skill in surgery\, with access to appropriate levels of equipment and operating facilities. Of particular relevance to rural emergency GPs and GP Surgeons. DESCRIPTION:Event Details\n \nEXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST \n\nThe Rural Health West CPD REACT+ workshop is designed to assist Western Australian Visiting Medical Practitioners to maintain their emergency knowledge and skills\, and gain formal assessment towards their emergency credentialing\, as required by WA Country Health Service. DESCRIPTION:This workshop is run in partnership with the Clinical Training and Evaluation Centre (CTEC) \nThe Cutting Edge: Proceduralist Obstetrics and Gynaecological Skills is a hands-on skills training workshop utilising simulation models. This workshop is designed to assist GP Proceduralists and GP Obstetricians in attaining an improved level of confidence in gynaecological and obstetric procedures. DESCRIPTION:This workshop is run in partnership with the Clinical Training and Evaluation Centre (CTEC) \n  \n  \nThe Cutting Edge: Peripheral Nerve Block Workshop aims to increase breadth and depth of theoretical\, anatomical and practical knowledge in relation to peripheral nerve block techniques and safety. \nOther outcomes include the improvement of ultrasound skills required to perform a peripheral nerve block correctly and safely as well as an increased awareness of the risks of peripheral nerve blocks and their reduction. This workshop is aimed at emergency physicians and general practitioners wishing to improve their anatomical knowledge and understanding of peripheral nerve blocks. It may be also of benefit for Emergency Department nurses and nurse practitioners. \nWorkshop Content \nThe workshop features rotating demonstration and ultrasound guided practical stations with 4 participants per group\, utilising: \nHuman and Cadaveric Prosection Models Utilising Ultrasound: \n\nFaciomaxillary and jaw blocks\nFemoral/sciatic nerve blocks\nForearm/wrist blocks\nKnee/ankle/foot blocks\nThoracic paravertebral/intercostal blocks\nBrachial plexus blocks\n\nAnimal Tissue Models Utilising Ultrasound and Needles: \n\nIntroductory needling technique hand to eye co-ordination session utilising porcine phantom models\nThoracic paravertebral/intercostal blocks involving needle insertion practice on porcine tissue.\n\nParticipants will then be provided expert feedback in small groups on their nerve block techniques and knowledge\, including that of ultrasound guided blocks. DESCRIPTION:Event Details\nAn Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) accredited course\, this two-day program aims to teach the theory and practical skills to effectively manage cardio/respiratory arrest\, peri-arrest situations and special circumstances\, and to prepare senior members of a multidisciplinary team to treat the patient until transfer to a critical care area is possible. The course focuses on achieving advanced resuscitation competencies and is also designed to develop leadership and team skills in managing such emergencies. \nCourse candidates will be sent the ARC Advanced Life Support 2 manual four weeks prior to the course. The course must be attended in its entirety with the successful completion of all assessments required to attain ALS Provider status. Information and teaching is delivered via seminars\, case studies\, practical hands-on sessions and also mega code scenarios involving the entire resuscitation team. \nThis workshop content will include: \nDay One − Neonatal Resuscitation Program\n• Understanding the physiology of normal transition at birth\n• Understanding approaches to neonatal resuscitation\n• Participant demonstration of proficient resuscitation skills\n• Participant demonstration of the ability to lead full neonatal resuscitation and coordinate the response of others\n• Understanding how lessons learnt can be implemented to improve care in the local setting \nDay Two – Neonatal Emergency Care\n• Stabilisation of the sick neonate\n• Advanced clinical skills including insertion of umbilical vein catheter/umbilical artery catheter and pneumothorax management\n• Common neonatal problems – detailed interactive teaching scenarios \nEligibility: GP obstetricians\, medical practitioners and midwives. Priority is given to those working in the local region. \nLength: Two Days 8.00am-5.00pm \nCost: Midwives – $440 for both days (including GST)\nGP/GPO – $660 for both days (including GST)\nThe cost of this workshop is subsidised by the Australian Government Department of Health \nAccreditation: This workshop has accreditation with The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) for continuing professional development points/hours and is approved for the Rural Procedural Grants Program.  We do ask participants to contact their relevant college to ascertain your eligibility for the grant prior to attending. \nThis education workshop is proudly delivered by Rural Health West in partnership with the Australian Government Department of Health  \nPayment Structure\nYou will receive an email link for payment in an event confirmation email.   Payment is required within 10 days of receiving the email.
